hi

now having an allotment am looking at a bike trailer to transport stuff (tools, etc etc). (*will be using old pub-ized mtb' so fitting etc could be left on)

There seem to be 2 basic trailer 'fitting' types:
- from middle of trailer up to seatpost/saddle http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Bicycle-cargo-trailer-bike-trailer-bike-cargo-trailer-bicycle-trailer-cargo-bike-/131169173371?pt=UK_SportGoods_CyclAcces_RL&hash=item1e8a4abf7b
this seems to come with a sort of towball fitting - so once it is fitted it looks like it will be an easy hook on/off

and the round the side fitting
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Brand-New-Foldable-Bike-Cargo-Bicycle-Trailer-in-Black-Red-carries-up-to-100Kg-/161270220804?pt=UK_SportGoods_CyclAcces_RL&hash=item258c744804
which as far as I can work out goes on one side of the rear QR

with the round the side fitting will a std rear QR be long enough and strong enough (*garden waste/manure )

I *think* I prefer the towball option:
- easier on/off
- handle design will let us use it as a wheelbarrow etc easier/pull when walking better than the side mount
- cargo design would be better than 'converting' a more readily available kiddy trailer

Any experience/hints/tips etc
Thanks

The seatpost-mounting type is great until you try braking downhill with a heavy load ๐Ÿ˜‰

Side mount is generally more stable, better for heavier loads, but the seatpost mount is better for the reasons you describe.
