Bike Themed Food

I'm throwing a do for some cycling friends next week. Everyone's bringing a bit of something to eat and I, foolishly, suggested all the food should be bike themed. Now I've made a rod for my own back.

I've not been able to think of anything to make myself. Most bike themed food on Google seems to be things like "make two pizzas and draw lines between them to make a bike shape". I'd prefer something cleverer than that. I'm aware of the Paris-Brest but, while I'm up for a challenge in the kitchen, this looks like too much work for not enough reward.

Anyone got any ideas? Pun-based is fine but if anyone's aware of anything incredibly specific from the continent with an actual bike-themed name I'd be delighted to hear it. It can be for any course.

Good point Ton, it's the Paris-Roubaix that weekend so anything on that tip would be good. Vegetarian would be even better (Roubaix inevitably leads me to the idea of lamb or mutton, what with them being fleecy).

Potentially a bit dull, but rice cakes are a staple of the peloton i.e. proper rice, not the puffed discs from Tesco. Could add in all sorts of stuff to make them more interesting though (cheese, bacon lardons, walnuts, or maybe try a sweet combo too), and the benefit of being eaten cold is you can make them the day before. Bound to be a few recipes online.

Frites and mayo is another that springs to mind, though again, not super exciting. Omelettes are another popular pro roadie food (egg yolk optional, depends how many grams you need to lose before le tour).

Hmmm... Frozen sausages don't count?

There's a very good brewery in Oz called Bentspoke with a range of appropriate beers. Crankshaft IPA would suit.

Some chocolate bars?

Wolf's nipples?

For the slowest cyclist in group, hows about a snail with a lemon infused yellow jersey.

Poff pastry sheet rolled out.  Cover with partly cooked bacon and grated cheese.   Roll.up like a swiss roll cut into slices and a few mimutes in the oven. Bacon and cheese wheels.   Much yumminess

One big Cumberland sausage as a tyre.

A pork pie for the hub.

Bread sticks for spokes... Or spaghetti with skittles as spokey dokies.

Fixed Wheel Brewery do a range of bike related beers. Although their Chain Reaction IPA might be a bit too bitter right now.

Argentinian steak

Orange juice

Kona coffee

Rocky Mountain Road dessert

Chips and Salsa obviously

Giant chocolate buttons

Marzocchi bars

Marz-gnocchi

Trying to come up with brand related foods but this is bloody hard, I've gone through an online list of bike manufacturers and that's all I could come up with.

I’m aware of the Paris-Brest

Paris-Chicken-Breast is a lot easier.

Something rubbery, like tyres. Or elastomer suspension, I guess.

Squid? Snails?

Eggs, because they need braking? Scraping the barrel a bit here 🤣

No, wait, I have more! Condensed milk, because you puncture the can.

Or just give up on cooking and go with McDonalds (it's a chain...)
