Evening, I'm moving to High Wycombe this week, Naphill to be precise. Does anyone have any recommendations on local bike shops? Predominately for competent mechanics rather than buying kit. Thanks

If you want competent mechanics I can recommend these guys, they are about 10 mins drive from Naphill in the deepest (muddiest) Chilterns:

I’ve no idea if they are still any good but I bought my Kona Lava Dome from Cycle Care in High Wycombe around 1993 and the bike is still going strong. I am pleased to see that they are still trading, mainly for workshop though.

I’d second the OTEC recommendation. Based at Buckmoorend farm now and they do a great job. Just off the bridleways near Chequers in a container so you’ll end up passing by if you are on a MTB.

Cyclecare used to have a display cabinet full of Pace kit. This was many years ago. They had some great bikes too.  It’s still run by the same people.   It’s a great traditional bike shop.

Another +1 for OTEC

Theres also Cychemistry in Chesham, not used them myself but seem to be well reviewed.

Assume you’re aware of the jumps on Naphill common?

No I'm not, good pointer though! I am am aware of precisely zero trails in high Wycombe and the wider chilterns area to be honest, so a lot of discovering to be done. If you have any route or location recommendations I'll be glad to take them?

There’s plenty of trails in and around Naphill and Bradenham Woods, just have a nosey on Strava or Komoot and you should be able to get plenty of routes.

Cyclecare in High Wycombe is good (  biased as I used to  work there 96 to 2000 on my days off  from the RAF) also saddle safari in Marlow is very good too.  Ping me and I'll point you in the direction of people to ride with.

I live just 5 mins from Naphill in Hughenden Valley - there's miles and miles of riding round here (I did 40k today 95% off road)  - drop me message if you want. Lee at OTEC is a really nice guy and he's been around for years, there's not much he doesn't know. Think atm they're on winter hours Weds- Sunday.
