[Closed] Bike choice for Welsh coast to coast roadbike or mtb?

I am doing the Lon Las Cymru route in April, which is mostly tarmac from what I gather. I have my roadbike which I can stick 25c tyres on and a beam rack, or I could gear up my steel singlespeed, triple chainset with a proper rack. We're looking at 50-60 miles per day, so spreading it out somewhat and staying at friends and hotels so no real need to carry loads of gear. What bike would you use? Speed is not really the issue, comfort dictates the MTB, mates are on hybrids so I'd be pedalling more on mtb to keep up?

depends how fit you are, but id plump for the road bike. very cool looking mountain bike though, looks great fun for ripping around the road

fit-ish. can do a regular 60 mile ride on my roadbike -transferring that to mtb with slicks will be different?? now I'm confused. anyway bought bits off here today to gear up the mtb so looks like that's the plan..

mtb on slicks will be a little bit slower than a roadbike but not much - and no grat differnce to your pals hybrids IMO / IME

Use the MTB - don't be scared - pump up the tyres and enjoy yourself.

May need a few more cogs on it though - but maybe that is just me. ๐Ÿ˜€

float it's a 1992 triple butted tange prestige rocky mountain vertex race frame with a orange f9 or whatever fork. It's nice! gear it up and stick a rack on and away we go... right?
