Basically - needed new chainrings and wanted to step it up from 22/32/44 to 26/36/48 only to find that the 48 catches the frame. Will using 26/36/44 work ok or will there be shifting problems? Bought a new front mech as well so don't want to damage that trying it out !

That should work fine and will probably be a more usable selection of gears than with the 48.
You might be able to fit a 46 on there? I'm running 46/34 but to be honest I see no point in going higher than 44.

Cheers for the replies. Looks like the 48 will be going up in the classifieds.
