Need a new bike for middle child so what does everyone recommend.

Currently thinking an Orbea MX 24 XC for £250 looks best

If you've a pile of spare parts to hand I have a Carrera Blast 24" frame, carbon forks, and decent wheels to sell. Just needs brakes, drivechain, saddle and grips.

Hoy Bonaly 24 is a fair bit lighter than the Orbea, but costs a bit more...........

Depends entirely what the purpose of the bike is.
Where/what do YOU ride?

Even within a range... e.g. MX24 what do you want to keep vs replace.
The Orbea range is actually good in that every frame in the 20 and 24 come with disc mounts ...so if you were planning on putting on half decent wheels and drivechain/brakes the cheapest may be better value.

Used Islabikes Beinn or Luath depending on if you want MTB or Cx/Road would be a good choice at that budget. Our two have had both. Check the sizing - for the same size rider you will often get a bigger wheel size with Islabikes than some other brands.
