Looking at buying a couple of roof mounted bike racks, but when using friends Thule racks I find they really struggle to fit my XL 29er on safely. The wheels fit barely on the rack.
Anyone got any suggestions for a long bike rack that can work with 1300mm wheelbase 29ers?
I have two XL 29ers, the longest is 1270 and they fit on Thule racks (598) fine. They are getting near to the limits of the racks but you just to spend a little bit of time adjusting the tray/clamp position. Very easy to do.
My 29er fits on my Thule 591. As above you just need to adjust.
Don't know my wheelbase but it's got 510mm reach, 440mm chainstays and a 64° HA so must be pretty long
Seasucker and rockbros racks have an infinitely* adjustable wheelbase.
* Length of typical car roofs is substantially less than infinite and may limit bike length on some vehicles.
We've got a Thule 951 and it fits my Geometron. Your bike might not fit on your friends rack but they are adjustable. You can move the frame clamp bit forward or backward.
We might be selling our whole wingbar and 951 set up soon.
