Might have a bit more time on my hands than I bargained for before Xmas. If you were going to ride as much ST as humanly possible somewhere in Europe, where would you go, and who with?

Alps? Garda? Spain? Portugal?

Thanks

I cant claim to have vast experience of all the different areas, but I've just got back from a long weekend in southern spain (sierra nevada), and as part of it we did a days guided riding with Switchbacks AM.

It was pretty good, swoopy singletrack. Switchbacks were really good, the guide was friendly and knew his stuff .

Basque region? No. Very good chance of being very very wet. We have a winter here. Saying that, it was lovely last year. Wouldnt put money on it being the same this year though.

Probably the best climate in Europe is the coast of Southern Spain. We´re based right on the beach.
Stunning singletrack rides with plenty of bus uplift during the day & fantastic après-bike on the coast at night.

Finale Ligure.

Loads of biking tour companies out there and it's still 30c upwards as we speak. Trails are incredible but many are on the more extreme end of natural.

Not here! We dont take people because of the weather!! Even in the south Pyrenees it's too risky after November.!south or potdog in Teneriffe gets the thumbs up from my mates.

Sospel, Maritime Alps (near Nice)

Plenty of rideable all-year trails, such as this one:

Surely it's time to move this thread to Classifieds?

Mallorca - climate will be good, and great rocky riding, not too sure about swoopy singletrack though, if that's what you're after.

We've just got back from a great week in southern Spain with one of the companies advertising above, plenty of singletrack and sun. Take your pick, the high Sierra Nevada is getting some snow, but not enough to close the usual trails.

As every one else has jumped on the "bandwagon" we at www.bikingandalucia.com share all the attributes of the above providers in andalucia, we are not based too high up (in Orgiva) so does not get too cold, though we do transfer to the higher trails, weather permitting, and Orgiva has a critical mass of bars, restaurants and shops, so no need to get "cabin fever" .
We do have the best winter climate in Europe, though obviously, in winter we cannot guarantee it. Last winter many of our clients went home with a suntan!!
We don´t make any outlandish claims but we provide good value biking holidays and as good a routes as can be found in our region of Las Alpujarras, and surounding area, Andalucia, southern Spain.
