I'm considering a cheap carbon frame 21" and the Be one comes in at a reasonable £400 Are they any good is there anything else similar. I'm looking to dip my toe in a couple of XC races in 2012 any advice would be gratefully received.

I've seen a few about, and always heard good things. I'd be tempted were it not for the crazy short top tubes they seem to claim to have on their geometry.

I've just got one but haven't built it up yet. Seems well made and finished and is certainly light - 1110g for the 19". Nice touch is the headset, seat collar and headset spacers that come with it and which seem good quality - although not convinced about the lower race sealing.

BSA fit BB (I was expecting BB30, so that was a relief).

Hoping to build it up at the weekend and will report back.

I have a 2010 BeOne Pro Raw and it's fantastic.

Much better finish than the OnOne C456 that my friend had.
Very light too, mine came in at 1020grams(XL 21") as the bare frame. Amazing deal at CRC for this year's model £400 but then you get £25 off for spending over £250 and you'll get £50 back in vochures for your next purchase.
I don't find the top tube too short mine measure 585mm from centre of the seattube to centre of the headtube and I'm 6'4".

I'd say the geometry is very racy but the frame is very stiff and chuckable.

Update - finished build and took for very short sprint up and down the road, mainly to tighten the cranks as per the Royce instructions. 8)

Frame feels very stiff and lively and I'm looking forward to a proper spin. All built up fine with no dramas.

Likes: finish; weight; fit; price (for what seems a decent carbon frame)

Dislikes: downtube cable routing - cables are a long way off the frame too; front mech cable comes up through the frame in a plastic guide which will get full of crap; the hose guides won't take Hope hoses if you want to use C clips - I had to use cable ties.
