After going from a 750 width bar on my full suss trail (now sold) to an xc hard tail with a 720 bar it felt ok. But loads of people comment how wide they are ( stock bars on a 920 scale).
Is 710-720 wide on a 29er?
Would I notice much difference lopping them below 700?

It's entirely personal.
I've gone from 680 to 711 on my hardtail 29er, feels just right now.
I think where your at with 720 is entirely acceptable
Anything under a metre is just marketing
I went from 660 to 750. It was a lot easier than going 750 to 660. That felt really odd.
I have 720 flat bars on a 29er. Love it but it does cause some dicey moments in the singletrack.
You've answered your own question when you said it felt ok TBH. I run 760s on my 29er but then I'm a lanky streak of piss.

No. For me it would be too narrow, I've gone through 725, 750 and now at 785. Every time I thought I'd cut the bars down if I didn't like them, I never have.
I keep fitting wider bars then gradually cutting them down again, they all end up around 710/720.Soon I'll have enough tips to glue them all together and build a new bar.
