Are these any good? Just sold my Juicy Carbon's and considering these. Other possibilities include ORO K24's,THE ONES, or Stroker Trails. Help!

I'm using K24's, they squealed like a bitch when I had to grab a handful to avoid another road user correctly preforming a right turn on a mini roundabout, albeit they delayed indicating their intention. They work, very well 🙂

Squealing is something I hope to avoid.......any noise come to think of it. Do these new Avid's do 'the turkey gobble' like some Juicy's?

I've got an Elixir CR and R on my Reign at the moment. The Rs far more impressive in my opinion, better bite, less squeal etc. whereas the CR seems lower power and takes a large grab to get power through. Might just be a dodgy one off though. As for stroker trails swapped them out for the Elxirs, good brake power just didn't like the lever feel.

Cheers, was the squealing in the wet I take it? Is there good pad to rotor clearance or is it difficult to get correct alignment? Some reviews of the CR say that the bite point adjuster moves around on it's own? Mr Nutt, no brake, no squeal, collision with other road user, tree etc......

They work fine, much less noisy than the juicy carbons they replaced, more bite and better modulation. You need to hold the cable as you twiddle the adjuster otherwise you wind up the cable as you wind the adjuster and the cable unwinds the adjuster after you let go of the adjuster.

I'm running Elixir R's at the mo, I'm so incredibly impressed by them. These came on my Ex9, I've had shedloads of other brakes on previous bikes, last ones being juicy ultimates, before that were XTR, juicy 5, juicy carbon and marta SL.

In my opinion these wipe the floor with all of those, the marta's being the only ones that really felt similar (after endless faffing about and bleeding). Power feels endless but nicely controlled too with a great lever feel, most I've used seem to feel a bit wooden in comparison.

Squeals a regular occurence pretty similar in the dry or wet, the strokers squealed a bit but far less, my previous M4s in comparison were squeal-less. Pads have lasted 3 months, 3 hours a weekish 🙂 They're good brakes, just not without their problems.
