A Yorkshire Water worker was knocked unconscious and suffered a broken jaw after being assaulted at Brookhouse Bridge, Langsett (cutgate) by a group of 15 or so dirt bikers.

Visitors are being advised to not  engage if you encounter this group, but observe and notify South Yorkshire police.

Not good at all. Hope the worker is ok. And I hope that they catch the perpetrators and throw the book at them.

Jesus, m-crossers are almost universally aggressive these days, I often encounter young lads on the TPT razzing around on their 50cc Ichee-Fanis, and even if you ignore them them they come at you effing and jeffing.

It's kinda built in sadly.

The number of places you can legally ride MX bikes is very small and usually charge you to do so.

For the serious/competetive MX'er this isn't a problem. They have the money for this and for a van/trailer to get their bike safely and legally to the track.

If you want to ride on the road on or the few public byways out there you are legally required to have insurance/numberplate/lights etc, again, there are legit Enduro types who do this, I've encountered groups of them locally and whilst they do chew the hell out of the tracks they use they are generally polite and decent to deal with, but again.. expensive.

If you either don't have or don't want to spend the funds this means you basically have to be prepared to ride illegally where almost everyone else hugely resents your presence and where angry confrontations and dodging the police are part and parcel of a day out. This attracts those of a certain mindset who either don't care about this or actively enjoy it.

Yep, had a group of five pass me on a footpath near my house where I walk the doggo.

Probably heading for the slag heap (where they're not causing much bother TBH), but I could feel they were spoiling for a row. Had a couple offer me a fight in Rivi Terraced Gardens before as well.
