Quite frankly, I've given up.. Looking for a pair of used Reba teams in silver, that is.
It. Will. Never. Happen. ๐
So... This is the plan:
(1) Get a nice pair of Reba teams in horrible minging black
(2) Remove the lower bits
(3) Send lowers to Argos, or a similar resprayer to have them stripped and painted a delectable glossy silver
(4) Get hold of some 'Reba' decals from eBay and apply them
But (The dilemma!):
(1) How easy / hard is it to remove Reba Team lower legs so they are ready for paint stripping / paint spraying?
(2) Could I save money by paint stripping the fork legs myself?
(3) How much will somewhere like Argos charge to (paint strip and) spray paint lower fork legs?
(3) Will it all just end up looking a bit shite?
(4) Should I just hold out for a bit longer in case some pimpy silver ones turn up?
Your thoughts..
Painting will be a fairly simple route. Just painted some white myself, after first cutting, filing and sanding to remove canti bosses. A job well done if I do say so myself. Used smooth hammerite aerosol. The stuff goes really hard after about 3 weeks and gives a good glossy finish.
Removing lowers takes minutes. Look at the manuals on SRAM.com You'd probably need to remove the seals as masking around them will be a bit crap.
If you want a 'factory' finish you might want to look into decals. They look 'odd' without them.
Have you got any pics markyd, id be interested to see the finished result especially where the canti bosses were removed.
