I want to take my lad riding in Feb, he is handy on a bike but pretty young. All the proper downhill companies like are understandably reluctant as he would slow them up and he is not yet ready for the proper gnarly stuff.
So I need somewhere that offers nice flowly trails, uplifts, does not attract the serious downhillers and is sunny or at least warm Feb half term.
Any suggestions?
Thanks
No idea, but would BasqueMTB fit that bill? There's a couple of outfits that run out of Lagos on the Algarve too, so they may be worth an e-mail.
The weather in the basque country will be grim in Feb, wont it?
Sounding like a bit of a broken record here but FOD is fairly easy and the uplift service is great. You just might miss a few runs if you don't make it down to the bus in time, but I'm slow and mincey and still got the full 16 or so runs in last time ๐
I hear you and we will deffo go BUT I am looking for some SUN and WARMTH in Feb and I am not sure the FOD qualifies on that requirement. ๐ฅ
Tenerife? Are there not guiding companies there?
edited - wrong thread!
Sounds like just the job for Sierra (as posted by uplink). Even the Costa del Sol might not be *that* summery in February, but it'll be nicer than back home anyway.
I think this is probably as warm as you'll get for reasonable money and as stated on the site, they'll cater for anyone from beginner to expert downhiller........

ianv, we could have tailored something to you (and thanks for mention Rickos) but you're totally correct and the weather is pretty changeable around that time. We don't open until the end of March / start of April for just that reason.
Further south, Portugal or one of the islands would be a good bet I reckon.
Hi ianv. Daz from Lavatrax here.
Feb half term is perfect weather here. We do multiple uplifts and have a variety of trails to offer which suit all from beginner to expert DH riders. You'll get on average 40 to 50km of DH riding per day all in lovely sunshine and the chance of a dip on the pool or the sea to relax the muscles at the end of the day.

Sorry, that's probably a dirty word on this forum ๐
