Are bar mounted iphones still ruining cameras?

A few years back there was an issue of bar vibrations killing the image stabilisation or auto focus in cameras.

It was first a reported thing in the motorbike world, so might have been the high frequency engine vibration, not the riding-over-rough-surfaces vibration that did it.

Has anyone actually killed a phone camera on a mtb and if so what model?

Not quite the bars, but I've mounted my phone (iPhone 14) on the top tube using both the sp-connect (universal) and quad lock (strap) mounts and never had an issue with either causing a camera problem later. I've also mounted a DJI Osmo on the bars (with a K-edge or similar) and the image stabilisation works rather well.

It was alleged to be engine vibration I thought.

Regularly QuadLock an iPhone on a road bike. Not on the MTB though.

It certainly was a thing.  My mate broke 2 using as satnav on his Ducati.  Apple refused warranty for a 3rd.

I've never understood attaching £1k of electronics to a crash vulnerable, theft vulnerable, vibrating, filthy position on handlebars....

I keep phone in pocket or bag.

Still a thing apparently, Nov 23 guidance.

Motorcycle engine vibration though, although I don't think I'd strap a camera with OIS to my handlebars if it was rocky.

Quadlock have an extra optional bit for reducing vibrations
