Now in it's fifth year, the monthly Bristol Bike Jumble kicks off ( usually ) the first Saturday of every month at midday outside MUD DOCK CYCLE WORKS. So that's THIS SATURDAY APRIL 2ND AT MIDDAY. There's also a COFFEE+CAKE MORNING at 10.30 in the oh-so-lush cafe upstairs ( also a good opportunity for pre-jumble bargain swappage and skullduggery ). To set up a stall is free, to use a table is free. Parking in the gigantic Pay+Display right next door is cheap. If you have a table to bring that would be lovely. For both the Pay+Display and doing deals BRING LOTS OF CHANGE. Remember, if you see a huge bargain but didn't plan on spending more than a tenner then it'll be here NEXT MONTH TOO so swap names and mobile numbers! Now for some nice pictures of previous jumbles....

I hear rumours that some of the STW royalty will be gracing the jumble with their presence!

I love the bike jumble. Where else would you get a Mk 1 Cotic Soul frame for £40? Thomson Stem for £20? Thomson seatpost for £20? Ritchey WCS stem for £5? XTR front mech for £10?

Don't need anything this month. This means I'll walk away with armfuls of stuff.

So is there some good riding nearby if I come across from Reading for the day?

<3 miles you've got the Ashton Court timberland trail (In it's current state it's "magenta" grade apparently; trickier than blue but not quite red.), 50 acre wood (red), and Leigh Woods (no official trails but lots of cheeky ones). All XC trails.

Further afield are the Mendips (about 25min drive out of bristol), where you've a pick of technical XC and DH. Gets a bit muddy though.

I may be heading to Leigh Woods post jumble if I'm not too hungover from tonight. Happy to show you around if I do.

Ashton court sounds perfect with it's current "Magenta" grading as I can drag the gf along and she won't feel out of her depth. Is 50 Acre wood in the same area?

Also anyone have the postcode of the car park so I know where to head for. Thanks in advance.

5am

50 acre is over the road from ashton court, there is directions to the trail along the timberland trail.

Its not that hard going, so it be fine

This site would give you directions to leigh woods

The published postcode takes you to the lower car park (5 on the map below). You want the upper car park (2 on the map; next to the pitch & putt golf course), unless you fancy an unecessary hill climb at the start of your ride. No. 1 on the map is where the jumble will be.

50 Acre wood is part of the timberland trail, but separate from the Ashton Court estate. Exit AC by the "hole in the wall" (no. 3) & 50 acre starts at no. 4 (it's all sign posted).
