Seems to be what I'm after,if a bit spendy. There's just not many reviews online

I looked at those too. Seem to be just the thing I need as standard downtube protection doesn't extend nearly far enough up the tube. Worst rock strike I have had happened at speed and hit the downtube up near the headtube. Pierced the invisiframe but thankfully not the carbon. I wonder if they will stick to invisiframe or if you need to take it off.

Just had a look on CRC and they sell a couple of downtube protectors for Nukeproof/Vitus bikes for less than a tenner could probably be trimmed to fit. Don't know which would be toughest though. The CRC ones are silicone the Gnatec ones are Urethene.

I fitted a nukeproof one to my airdrop a few weeks ago.
Easily trimmed to size and sticks on really well. It works really well. Can’t beat it for the price IMO.

@poah sorry if too many questions, are the trek ones flexible and self adhesive? They don't give a description. @b33k34 now that does look a beefy guard!

@bruneep I can't see that it offers much advantage over the cheaper alternatives mentioned previously. Unless the urethane material is significantly tougher.

I have the Gnartec, paid considerably less than £50 for it a while back when the price was lower and there was a discount code. Maybe it's worth it if you've a carbon frame and make use of the no-cost colour options. Pricing one up now with 3 extra extension pieces it's £74! Individually cut to order by hand in Scotland maybe.

It's not had a proper test yet but it conforms well, looks tidy, and seems like it will stay in place.

Saw what it was made of, did a little research and came up with this. Make your own.

50 quid is a little steep for what youre getting. Maybe a simple shaped mould, mix, pour, set.
The stuff seems to be used a lot in prop making.

To update this.

I took a punt on this product and after excuse after excuse about manufacturing issues and delivery and just not responding I asked for refund.

Shame looks a good product but their CS and the taking your money to make to order whilst not actually having the raw material's to make it all seems a bit iffy.

Have you considered using 2228 mastic tape?

Did that on the downtube of my last bike build and I'm very pleased with how it came out.

Very satisfying to apply as well.
