Seems quite hard to get tubes to fit 2.35" tyres.

I'll bet they're fine - most tubes come from pretty much the same factories in China/etc anyway regardless of what the box says.

FWIW I had no problem inflating a 2.5in Maxxis with a cheap Tesco 2.1-ish tube. Works fine.
