I'm going through 2 pair of mt500s each year. I'm going to have a go with some old tyre, evostik, pop rivets for the toe. Not sure about heel. Its as much about hating seeing things going to waste as well as me being a total minge bag.
I keep thinking about acquiring some replacement zips for mine. Shirley it can't be that hard to do, eh? The toe ends just get trashed whatever you do, I think.
I've repaired a few.
The big problem is that domestic sewing machines don't like neoprene, so I hand sew them. I replace the centre loop with a piece of tape (as found on a rucksack strap).
The heel and toe bits I've replaced with a combination of neoprene, glue and tape. Trick is to not destroy them too much before you repair them.
Of course what we all really want is a pair that are shoe specific and can be glued in place, just like some top of the range mountaineering gaiters!

I got fed up with the constant expenditure on overshoes so treated myself to a pair of winter boots and have not been disappointed.
I'm such a poor specimen of a human I need overshoes on top of winter shoes.
The shoes above look just as vulnerable as mt500s.
