looking for the best price for some folding small block 8 i stumbled onto a site that reckons they can't be used with no-tubes etc as the sidewalls are too thin.
anyone any experience/knowledge of that?
which then leads me to wonder how do other kendas fair up, i was all set to slap a blue groove/nevegal combo onto my rims but now wondering whether i should be buying regular tubes instead of sealant?
Have karma, sb8 and nevergrips all running tubeless here with no probs so far, all standard folding versions, not tubeless ready
I'm guessing people will want to know where you ride etc. Rocks?
Am using Nevegals 2.1 on WTB Lazerdisc rims with JRA wheel milk and half-BMX tubes. The beads were good but the sidewalls were leaky, but they sealed with persistence.
I did this because the thin carcass makes Nevegals puncture-tastic with tubes.
I made a deliberate decision not to tubeless a bluegroove and nevegal I had on the basis of their - 'waafer-theeen' sidewalls.
The UST versions are pretty damn good though. Not too heavy as UST tyres go. I've just started experimenting with Maxxis tubed tyres as tubeless. the standard highroller I'm running on the rear of the FS seems to be holding up ok, but I'm still a little unsure about the sidewalls. Time will tell.
"Maxxis tubed tyres as tubeless"
Reckoned to be perfect for ghetto on the JRA site. I also really like the Advantage 2.1s I've tried.
I am pleased with my Nevegals - 8 months with one burp and no punctures* and I get zero leakage but as I said, you have to be persistent to seal them up.
*I got a non-sealing puncture Sunday on the Brecon Beacons because I'd forgotten to top up the milk in 3 months - DoH!
Yes- it was on JRA's advice I thought I'd try them out - they know their tubeless onions at JRA.
I've had two incidents recently involving a set of 9 year old Tioga Fat66 DH's. Both gashes have failed to seal, not in the least because I'd forgotten to top up the latex - although, even topped up, I don't think they would have.
I'm trying some michelin all mountains a friend has given me to try too. They went up well enough and will get thir first test on Thursday.
