I took a liking to a Reign Advanced 1 that I managed to have a quick gander at but would like to try the Large and the Medium out on the trail. I'm 182cm with a 34 inch inseam which put's me at the wild end of Giants sizing chart
It seems I can either pick one with a 17 inch seat tube but a reach that I'm relatively used to (a tad longer than a large YT Capra) or a large with a 19 inch seatube and a reach that I've not got any real experience with.
Before someone tells me that the shorter YT is the obvious choice for the spec and my long gangly legs.....I have taken a fancy to the bike... 😀
Long shot here, but have you tried speaking to your local Giant dealer to ask them about Giant's awfully good demo fleet system?
I know, crazy suggestion, but y'know....

That's only going to be a car park test I'm afraid, I'm looking for somewhere/someone that will let me take one out for a spin on a decent trail?

No, it isn't.
Giant do a full on demo process where you can take one away for the weekend etc. Just make sure you don't break it and that it's clean afterwards, obviously!
It's an excellent demo system, seriously. Have a chat to your local Giant dealer! Where are you based? Might know a good one to talk to.

Schaweet, cheers Flashy. I've never dealt with Giant before, I'm based in Rutland right at this minute 🙂
Thanks a lot!
*Last minute disclaimer - I don't actually know if they have any Reign Advanced in the fleet!
Have tried a 2015 Reign in alu, and it was very, very good indeed. It's long though. Very, very, very, very, very, very long. Did I mention that it's long?
A very capable climber on either the back of a truck or smoothish, not too techy climbs. Wouldn't want to spend the day doing big mountain stuff on one, though.
However, point it down and wooooohoooo!

What don't you like about it's climbing prowess? Anyway it can't be much worse than one of the older Nukeproof Megas, a sub 30lb bike will be amazeballs! 😆
Is it the length? What size did you try?
I really like the look of the bike, nice and low, clean lines, long wheel base - just perhaps a tad short in the seat tube in the medium with a 125mm dropper post.....still....actually I prefer the look of bikes with short seat tubes when the saddles slammed....I'm a whore for aesthetics.
I rode a M, as I like my endurognarr bikes a little small. It was great, really, however....
It's a long, slack bike, and that has issues with climbing for me. Front end felt vague on techy/twistier climbs, and at times it was hard for me* to get my weight in the right place uphill.
That said, as a winch and plummet, mini-DH bike it was utterly brilliant!
*May just have been my lack of tehskillz!
I've mastered the art climbing/wheeling up hills on the back wheel with 50mm rise bars, so....bring it on. Do you think the Dual Position Airs will be useful? Did you notice the custom 46mm offset in the forks?
If you don't mind me asking/answering...how tall are you?
Ooooh I want one...want one...want one...want. 😀
The reign is very very good, if I could only have one bike it would be a reign and two sets of wheels. I rode both the trance and the reign, given that I already have a dh bike, the reign for me felt like a mini dh bike. I wanted a bike that I could ride xc on, ride trail centres, ride natural trails and a trance with a pike on was more suited to my intended use.
Most giant concept stores will have a instore demo fleet u can hire at £20 per day also giant have their own fleet u have to book slots for and get for a week
Do a search for concept stores on the giant site and see what they have as there store fleet and go from there
Its a bike that Is far out of my range travel wise I just don't need that much but my boss has one and seems very happy with it coming from a trance ADV last year
