Due to lack of foresight and terminal procrastination we urgently need one replacement 22 x 5/32" caged ball headset bearing ASAP for Juniors bike. Posting this evening First Class would be ideal. We can order online of course, but there's no guarantee of it being here before Monday (which is when the bike needs to ridden to school). Local shops only stock inferior 16 ball versions (which we'll use should this request fail).

Can pay by PayPal.

Help me STW, you're my only hope!

Is shameless bumping in emergencies acceptable?

Of course, it's for a kid's bike.
Sorry I can't help.

loose bearings are best but for a kids bike the 16 cage you mention will be fine.

Are you the Swindon tucker, if so there is a top bearing shop near the Moonrakers that will sort you out

Thanks peeps, 16 balls is it then (at least until a 22 ball set arrives anyway...call me sad).

cynic-al, I didn't have any loose in that size, local shops don't appear to either, and ordering same problem as previously stated.

DavidB, no I'm not. Thanks anyway.

Get a couple of the 16s and pop the bearings out. Then stick them in loose. Much better than either cage option.

Why didn't I think of that? The bearings I will be buying come in a two pack anyway, and it's for the top headset bearing, so unlike the bottom one it's easy to work with loose balls (ooh err missus).

Nice one!

While you've got it in bits, might as well do top and bottom. If you're only doing one, loose balls are better in the bottom. That's the one that takes the beating. More balls can take more load after all.
