Just had a disaster of a sale for my old Marin e2 frame, obviously I didn’t notice before sale but buyer discovered on building it up a rectangular sunken hollow on the inside of the front triangle by the headtube end, im guessing they flicked or picked at it and a small chip of paint came off which has a crack showing. I’ve refunded the buyer which was painful this close to Christmas etc, but probably more angst ridden from their end.
The question I have really is has anyone else had this as I reckon these down tubes are fairly generic?
The

bike is a Marin alpine trail e2 from 2021. 630wh battery, just had the usual tumbles you have riding a bike, nothing major.
No experience personally but a quick Google suggests a 5 year frame warranty. Assuming its not impact damage I'd be taking it back to the shop I'd bought it from straight away
Speculating, perhaps the weight of the (large) battery focussing stress on that point as it goes over bumps.
Bought second hand so no go on that one, but hoping for some assistance from Marin in a sorta goodwill/ crash replacement kinda way. Will have to be financially worthwhile for me now as not many people are considering shimano motor bikes it would seem.
the stress in one point is my guess also, I’ve never heard of it before and certainly wouldn’t be on my radar if I was looking.
Is it definitely the same frame that you sold?

i did wonder but yes, has the same frame protection kit and broken riders sticker. No more mileage on the odometer so not ridden either. Was cautious when first contacted but as it went along buyer seemed genuine and so no animosity, also eBay’s ‘seller’ protection is pants so even if it had been non gen I wouldn’t have been in a strong position within the first 30 days anyway.
