As above - we have a set of AM1 SL's that need a service.
I've borrowed three different sockets, all have too thick a wall to fit in between nut and fork dropout.
Google suggests for mucho denero I can buy an official Marzocchi one.
Anyone got an old one they don't use, or brand that is thin I can buy?

Thin wall sockets exist, look for specialist car tools designed to get in tight places like https://www.amazon.co.uk/Stanley-J7012MHT-8-Inch-Impact-Socket/dp/B002E98WAU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1502011126&sr=8-1&keywords=12mm+thin+wall+socket

Or just grind the sides off a regular one.

It's a deep, 12mm socket.

I've tried 2x 1/4"....

I will give that Stanley a go.

Cheers.

Buy a cheap one and bodge it with a bench grinder.

I have a set of box spaners like these: http://www.screwfix.com/p/box-spanner-set-8pcs/4883F?tc=CA3&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIzszXtZjD1QIVyIqzCh3CnQzcEAQYASABEgJrUvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds&dclid=CJaL5LmYw9UCFesC0wodOXsHfw

Which fit just about right. Note: it's not these that I have - they are just an example!

I've got one.

It's one I made by attacking a 12mm socket with an angle grinder.
PM me your address and you can have it, I don't intend to EVER take a set of those horrible things apart EVER again!

This came up a few years ago!

Get a box spanner like BlobOnAStick says above and round off the sticky-out edges with a file.
