My Trance came with Kenda Nevegals on WTB Speed Disc rims and I wanted to swap a Racing Ralph to the rear. However, I can't get it on the rim.
Usually I never need to use tyre levers to get tyres back on rims, but I've only ever had Mavic rims and I'm wondering if WTB rims come up large or Schwalbe tyres come up small.
I did need to use a lever to get the Nevegal back on the rim, which is leading me to believe the rims are a tight fit.
Experiences???
I used to have Hope PRo2's with WTB rim's i tried to fit Bontrager Mud X tyres they were really tight & couldnt get them to sit on the Bead , i changed the rim's to Mavic's problem solved
I found WTB Speed discs looser than Mavic EN321's with the same tyres.
But the Mavics weren't overly tight. Depends which rim though I guess.
One tip when fitting tyres; assuming you can get one bead on the rim, make sure that it sits right in the middle of the rim, then when you get the other bead on, again make sure that you get the first bit right in the middle as the middle of the rim is in effect smaller than at the edges. This should help, but some combos are just tighter than others.
At Spa Cycles they sell steel Brooks tyre levers, you'd have to take care not to mark your rims with them, but they should never snap, you don't really notice the odd tiny scratch when the rim is dirty.
It's just a thought anyway.
