Anyone else waiting...

[Closed] Anyone else waiting for Renthal Grips from MTBdirect?

Mrs K ordered some Kevlar lock ons for me before Christmas so it's now week 6. The excuse is "there is a manufacturing problem" although they promised to send so out Monday - nothing of course.

Anyone else - I know they were in demand but want to see if its just us.....?

"A manufacturing problem"

I'd be checking that with Renthal if I were you.

A lot of places ran out of stock pretty quickly. I ordered mine from bike tart this morning and they've been dispatched. They only came back into stock this week though

hey guys... I own mtb-direct, although I don't actually have much to do with the day to day running of the shop anymore.

I've checked and I can promise you that the reason they've been delayed is that Renthal haven't been shipping them to Ison who are the UK distributors. If you want to call Ison to check this you are more than welcome.

We had them set on 15 day pre-order so people could get them ordered if they wanted. We chased them every 3 days for 6 weeks, and we finally took delivery of our first stock yesterday. So all back orders have now been shipped as far as I'm aware.

We've never told anyone a single lie about this, the delays were out of our hands and each time people phone we gave them the latest info we had.

if you have any concerns about this don't hesitate to call me.

Col.

Thanks for claryfying flidis/Col, appreciated.

Just FYI your customer service / people answering the phone has promised to phone my wife if the grips weren't sent Monday (which clearly there weren't), and she was also awaiting a call pre-Christmas regarding expected delivery which she never got. we have ultimately waited 5-6 weeks to obtain that info ^^.

I appreciate the stock issue, but a little more comms / returned calls from the chaps on the phone might help to avoid me/us having to ask this through a forum. It shouldn't be left to the end customer to have to bypass your team and go to the distribtors.

Thanks, and again I appreciate you taking the time to post here.

@ flidis - You say you took delivery of first stock yesterday yet Kryton says despatch was promised Monday?

Maybe you can explain this?

He probably doesn't need to - possibly his staff where expecting stock on Monday (hence thats what they communicated to Mrs K) which (perhaps through no fault of thier own) didn't arrive until yesterday?

I'm not angry about it, or in a rush. As long as they turn up eventually I'll be happy.

@patriotpro.

The delivery date on the grips, was given to us by Ison, and every week it got put back. We were promised right from before Christmas that it was due to be the 7/1, which is what we told our customers who were waiting. As in any industry supply chains have delays. We've had all the other compounds in stock for over a month. Its just the Kevlar ones that were held up, and the delays were not ours.

Yes we should have called each customer who had them on back order, but when customers ordered and any time we spoke to them, the information was... "you've pre-ordered these to ensure you get them on the first drop, as soon as we get them, we'll dispatch them. The information we currently have is that this should be the 7/1."

we never told anyone they were in stock when they weren't and we would never promise a delivery date, when its out of our hands.

"Mob" Don't they send horses heads, wreaths n that? And besides If I want the monkey to answer I now know where to come.

Kryton - I wasn't playing the big-bro and sticking up for you, I spotted (being a pedant) an anomaly between your OP and "Col's" post and became intrigued as to why...

Of course Col doesn't HAVE to explain it but i'd imagine he would want to.

flidis while that ^^ is true, how long do you expected people to wait before they contact you ands start wondering where thier paid for goods are - especially when people are for obvious reasons expecting goods over the Christmas period?

Again, I'm (personally) not bitter, but my suggestion to you is that a mass email update to the affected customers with a short explanation and a promise to send goods as soon as you chaps recieve them would prevent this kind of thread. Its costs little but does much for customer relations

Six weeks is a long tome for a customer to wait without any specific info TBH in this day and age.

Again, this is just a suggestion for the future, I'm happy with how things sit currently.

haha, yes @Patriotpro thats how it works, we take your order and then just sit on the stock until we see that you've complained on-line... then and only then does it get shipped.

If I'd not seen this I'm sure the lads in dispatch would just be sat in the office rolling around in all their grips and not sharing them with any of the customers waiting for them ๐Ÿ˜‰

* just incase you can't sense the sarcasm in that.... I am only joking, of course everything is done to ensure that if a customer has backordered a product its shipped out the same day it comes into stock. There is no incentive or reason for the lads to hold onto stock that customers are waiting for.

Mine arrived from mtb-direct today, ordered them some time ago but knew everyone was having issues getting them from Renthal/Ison so no worries at all. Can't believe all the hype over them tbh, the thread on sdh/ride.i.o has been running for a few years! I do like the non lock on kevlars so if the lock ons are anything like those i'll be happy but doubt they'll change my life in any way!
Some proper whinge bags on here, thanks for taking the time to post up on here Col.

Slight backtrack; I arrived home to a nice new set of Kevlar lock ons ๐Ÿ˜€

So with hindsight, and in fairness I've got to thanks for MTB direct for shipping these out ASAP after stock eventually arrived.
