Hi all.

Subscriber for quite a few years but don't use the forum much.

Anyway... for the past couple of days, STW pages keep crashing when loading, using Samsung internet.

On a Samsung S10 phone, s/w up to date (Android 10, updated 14th Dec 2020.). Both if in mobile view or desktop view.

Tried restarting. Emptied the cache. Etc.  No joy.

I get a 'tab has crashed' message and an option to reload each time.  Same problem repeats if I click reload.

Anyone else  got any similar experiences ?

No problems on any other websites. Only STW.

I'm hoping a factory reset isn't needed.as that's a PITA.

(Also tried on an older Android phone without latest updates... and same problem).

Cheers.

Yes. Every time I get the tab has crashed page. Tried clearing the cache but it still isn't working.

Mine does this. I did an android update about 2-3 days ago. I have to use chrome now to get to the site, not Samsung Internet.
How do i clear the cache?

Ian

Yes. Not getting tab crashed messages but occasionally getting pages running so slow they won't scroll. The thing is they are fine if reloaded. Pixel 4a so plenty of power.

Yep, tab crashed error on STW and so far no other sites. Page loads and displays for a moment before crashing, ad server?

Native Samsung browser on galaxy tab, Chrome is fine on same device.

Chrome. I think it's mainly the classifieds list page I've noticed it on. Feels like a JavaScript issue.

No regular crashing here. Chrome on Samsung Android tablet. Sometimes get performance issues on Chrome/Win10 or Chrome/Samsung Android & closing any STW tabs usually sorts it. Tend not to leave open because of this. Dont know why its just STW.

I do get an issue with embedded Youtube videos on Chrome/Win10 and Chrome/Samsung Android. When click/tap play that part of screen within post just goes blank. Sometimes get audio.

Looks like this for me on Samsung internet.

Works with other browsers but I can't be bothered to switch over. It's stopped me from reading and commenting on STW after hours which is probably a good thing! I'll save this nonsense for work hours.

I didn't realise anyone actually used the default browser.

Fine here on Vivaldi and Firefox.

I'm finding it randomly slow using Chrome on a OnePlus8T running Android 11/ Oxygen 11. Embedded videos don't play - they just hang.

Exactly the same here on Samsung internet.
Page loads, flashes up and then crashes with Tab has crashed page as above.
Solved by switching to Firefox

Thanks all.

Was slow replying as....the pages kept crashing !!!

It's working in Chrome.too for me.

Clearing the cache on the Samsung native browser didn't help much. All other sites work fine tho.

Must be the combo of the Samsung update + STW.

As others say its reduced my viewing of STW which isn't good for ST income !

Since google went down recently we've all been hacked by China and Russia, they're watching everything we do now, dont say anything about Xi or Putin 😃.
Seriously though it was slow as f the other day using Samsung and Chrome, seems good now.
