Am thinking of getting a maxx d for my road bike and this seems a good way to do it, anyone else do this?

Yeah had my joystick mounted like that for a while. I didnt 100% trust the bracket so tied a lanyard to it that looped around the stem too. It never failed however.
I had it on a bike with old 105 STI units, ie with the shifter cables coming out at teh top and not going under the bar tape. The light would catch these and give a nice black shaddow line across the beam pattern. It also reflected back of the outer casing rather annoyingly, more so in the pitch black.
