Just wondering how far the ride is to high lodge, thetford forest park from elveden center parcs? Or if its a short car journey? Going center parcs end of January.
Thanks
It's a few miles, maybe 4 or so.
Thanks mate,
You can join up with the Lime Burner much closer though as it runs parallel to the road to Brandon from Center Parcs.
As stated above access is just down the road.
Be warned if you take a decent bike with you be sure to lock it inside your villa at night. Elvedon CP suffers from organized bike crime on a large scale, I know as have had bikes stolen both times I have been there. ๐ฟ
One of the scumbags was put inside for his troubles, apparently after he was locked up bike crime halved in the Brandon/elveden area

Aware of bike crime there, but is it that common still? Was going to take my zesty 514 and lock it indoors overnight and wile out. What about locking it up outside the pool/centre during the day? Do they get many daytime thefts?
Mule, where were your bikes when they were stolen? And what locks u have on them if any?
Thanks
Did exactly that a month ago. Wasn't too impressed with Thetford tbh. Wasn't aware of bike theft issues, my bike was locked outside overnight (with a decent lock mind)
Did both the red routes (whatever there names are now) this Saturday the lime burner is the better of the two routes and the sections just off it are quite nice, just make sure you don't have any mechanical problems as the mechanic at the shop at high lodge gave me very short shrift when I had a problem, I know they were busy being a Saturday but there are ways of talking to people if you haven't got time to do a repair.
I'll be taking my kriptonite bike lock and two flexi straps to wrap around both wheels, hopefully this will deter a bike thief while having it locked up at the pool!
Take a pub bike if possible and leave your bike in the cleaning cupboard, plenty of room in all of the lodges I have seen.
Maybe things are a lot better now that scumbag and his gang are out of action then.
1st time had Marin Wolfridge stolen and 2nd time (new Marin locked inside villa this time) lost Orange P7,Dawes Tamarac and a Halfords kids bike, all locked together and to the bike stands outside our villa with 4 cable locks and extension cables.
I did manage to recover the damaged Dawes and kids bike in the woods by the fence despite security telling me there was no point looking for them as they will be long gone. They were keen to get the paperwork completed but that was it, saying it does happen quite a bit but they can't be expected to patrol all the fenceline all the time.
I don't think there are many problems during the day tbh, still need to lock up obviously but maybe too risky for crims with so many people around.I am convinced there was someone on the inside helping to target which bikes the gang were after, both incidents happened on a Thursday night. I even considered someone at CP was involved as they used to ask you if you were bringing your own bike then what make/model it was when you booked.
I thought maybe I shouldn't of taken my own expensive bike and just used one of the old tredders they provide but if you do want to venture outside to explore why shouldn't you take your own. This all happened a few years ago and as I said hopefully things are a lot better now but I would still say if you value it keep it inside overnight.Never had a problem at Longleat just Elvedon.
This is not a good sight in the morning, there they were gone...
Back to the OP, Thetford forest is just down the road have an enjoyable ride.
I ride Thetford a lot and a few people i know have said they thought someone at cp was helping them cherry pick bikes one mate (chat with him when i see him there type mate) used to work there and he always suspected a couple of people of that but couldn't prove anything he always told people to lock there bikes in the chalet at all times when not being used bloody thieving scum started taking bikes from the car park at Brandon country park for a while the tea room that's far better than high lodge by a huge massive mile long way and Wendy the lady that runs it is really cool and friendly I think she has an account on her so Morning Wendy. So if you visit high lodge or BCP please keep an eye out for your bike and anybody grabbing bikes and running
As another has said the old boy in bike art is a bit grumpy but if your polite he some times gets less grumpy and helps you out for parts and the such what ever you do don't ask for a price match or discount it'll open a whole can of worms ๐
No need to drive! The old black (some years ago mind) passed very close to CP
