i've called 7 shops on the santa cruz dealer website where they've very kindly offered to 'order' one for me for £5K but don't have a demo one.Thanks guys but i wouldn't mind seeing it or riding it first?

There certainly was a demo one in Large last year - they had it at Mud Dock for a demo day. Might be worth going to them direct.
