need somewhere for tomorrow, its too damned icy round Wilsden so where to go?
Gisburn/Peaks/Dales/Calderdale??
Bingley Bash?
Did bingley bash + hills over oxenhope & we dropped down through wilsden to fit in a bit of cheeky singletrack.
We really enjoyed it.
Not too icy Oxnop? Walked down to Saltaire for the van and nearly went down a few times!
I'm thinking Ilkley moor might be good?
Cheers Simon but i live pretty much in the middle of the Bingley Bash so i'm looking to get somewhere different while i've the time.
This isn't a complaint, i think i'm bloody lucky to live where i do, the local stuff is superb, when i'm not riding i'm out trimming back trees or creating new lines so i never get bored. But as its icy i'll be avoiding the techy stuff..
Yep it was icy but nothing we couldn't ride on- both myself and the GF enjoyed it more than normal- Harden moor was ace BTW.
We were going to go over hebden/tod way but glad we stayed local.
If you do choose a ride further away tomorrow I'd be interested in where you go/conditions as we need to plan a ride for Sunday.
We were up on't moor on wed night it was lurvely, the ice had softened nicely so plenty of grip..
The Addingham/Skipton/Rylstone/Bolton Abbey area looked ok snow wise today. Ice maybe an issue though. Wouldn't bother further west due to depth of snow. The walled tracks are icy but once away from these the depth of snow is the problem.
SFB Sunday: The open fell above Crummackdale & Thieves Moss is too deep and crusted to ride. Tried GBH yesterday but gave up - wasn't worth the effort. Also a few inches fell overnight. Walking on Great Whernside today with snow depth from 3" to 2ft (old money).
Anywhere high up has lots of ice and snow.
Stick to lower down I'd say....
The Holme Valley is totally rideable at the minute, if you fancy a ride let me know and I'll show you a cool route.
If there's an offer for a ride in the Holme Valley, we'd like to take you up on the offer. We were thinking of going riding tomorrow if thats not too soon.
Its nice and frosty in Leeds at present, so been able to have some fun un the usually muddy routes.
ogden, stairs, hebbers, midgley moor, wainstalls, withens, ogden,
stairs should be ace in the ice.............. ๐
Is that the same route that we did back in October Ton?

it is mate...
On Wednesday we went from Ramsgill up to Scarhouse Reservoir. From Middlesmoor it was un rideable due to the depth of snow.
We pushed up to Scarhouse and returned on the road.
I can't see it being any different now.
Good excuse for some photos.
Road after Middlesmoor was OK where the snow plough had been.

Further up the snow was up to the top of the walls, was hard enough to walk on but not to ride.

We were able to walk straight over this gate.

Anyway in answer to the original question I've no idea where would be good to go tomorrow.
Maybe i should get the Snowboardc out!
Superstar, where's the Holme valley?
been riding yeadon, otley, ilkley, askwith, pool, panal, arthington and back to yeadon via otley and guiseley for the last week. All on the road and no incidents yet just ****ing cold. The snow around the washburn valley seems to have just about gone so may be ok. Just the usual mud to contend with.
Chew- e-mail me, I'm keen.
Mugboo- far side of Huddersfield to you.
What time suits everyone?
Where would we meet and how long would we be out for? Never been out that way so might be a pleasent change. Your not xc fast as f... are you?
Your not xc fast as f... are you?
๐ ๐ ๐
nah, he is shyte n slow............. ๐
I'm the same speed as whoever I'm riding with, ignore ton!
We can meet in the middle of Holmfirth, tell me how long you want to ride for and I'll piece a route together.
As its freezing then a couple of hours would be nice, meet at 10 am?
Sorry about the gaps i'm watching big fat quiz with the wife.
That'd be fine. I've sent you an e-mail. Forgot to ask, will there be just you or a group? It influences how long the ride will be!
if this was gonna be on sunday, i would have come too.
Today we rode the ski tows @ Another world, just above Ogden

Go there instead of riding bikes, do something different
julian, riding on trecherous ice is something differant mate...... ๐
Ton- I said to Chew that I can do a ride on Sunday morning. If you're here for 9am then we can do 4 hours or so of good stuff.
Then we're having a family photo taken, which will be a trial...
nbt what's the snow like up there? and is it open tomorrow? been meaning to go boarding up there for ages
Taka, we had a cracking day. nice firm base with a layer of fresh snow, for a tenner it's well worth a trip up. Should be fine tomorrow, there was plenty of snow left and looks like more coming in tonight. Andy said since Christmas, they've only been closed boxing day and the day after- every other day they've been open

Give Andy the owner a call on the numbers on the website if you need more up to date info - he's pretty sound about telling you the honest conditions
Tony, we did the snowy ride on new year's eve up over Robin Hoods Picking Rods, couple of snow drifts to push though and a couple of squeaky bum moments with two-wheel drifts on the ice ๐
Luke, i will mail you tomorrow mate, about sunday.
Good stuff. See if we can get Jonny and Tap out too.
(I'd say something about big lad's ride, but someone my size picking on you won't last long ๐

nice one.
was talking to jonny about a ride the other day..
Thanks Luke, nice ride. Not exactly snow free...but fun!
In fact considering the radio said Snake Pass and Woodhead were both closed then Holmfirth was probably the wrong place to ride.
Nbt, that looks superb, i'm only in Wilsden, might check it out tomorrow.
nbt went up today twas ace going up tomorrow hopefully i can crack the sodding rope pull though nackerd from running up the slop everytime ๐
nbt - that's awesome. It's only abut 5 miles from my house and I never knew it existed!
I think I might take the skis up tomorrow!
glenh look out for the rubbish border ๐
You a boarder then Taka? Harder for boarders to get the hang of it. Hurts your hands after a while too, by 3pm I was struggling to hold on to the rope
nope im a skier but ive always likes the thought of bording and its abit of a waste going to france to be on my arse all the time so going to practice loads before i go to canada next year + i couldnt even get on the rope ๐ got halfway up them failed i can do button pulls and stairlifts etc but that damn rope is too hard and my gloves were useless
stairlifts lol chairlifts
going again tomorrow im addicted now
Might have to go myself tomoz, what time do they open?
10:30am-5pm i think
Cheers
mugboo if your going up tomorrow could you bring them boards to have a look at please? ive got a mate who would be interested in the smaller one aswell

tom
Cheers for the ride Jason, had a cracking time- even if it was a bit more of an adventure than I'd expected!
