Think I have the new 2010 ones.

Want to move the brakes inboard but stupid windows in the way. Is there a blanking plate inside as I've heard some Shimano models have (although my old XT didn't)?

I *think* it's only XT that have these

Just bung a little sticker or bit of tape over the hole.

SLX's have the blank, or just tape as per my XT's

The circular protectors in this kit work well.

I'd normally not recommend running with a bit of tape sealing anything, but seeing as ive run a set of XT shifters for 4 years without a bottom cover and had no problems I think I could make an exception. Not pretty though

Silver duct tape has done the trick for me on some LX shifters. 3 years no issues.

I've ran my XT shifters for the last 2 years without a blanking plate and there have been no issues.
