I'm tempted by one of the Yeti 575s that Rutland Cycling have in their sale. Linky. Is it an optical illusion or is there virtually no clearance between the rear tyre and the brace below the seat stay? What size tyre fits OK leaving some mud room space? Ta.

"Paging Leku. PAGING LEKU."

Sorry I dont have a 575 - but know of a man that does.

He'll be along in a minute with all the help you'll ever need.

I had one and clearance in the mud was poor, I ran a 2.35 Larsen TT in the dry and that was fine due to its rounded profile, anything larger than 2.1 this time of year is a no no. Don't be put off though I loved mine, just watch the bonding between the carbon flecture and the alloy drop outs have been known to break

2.25 Maxxis Ardent on the back of mine, fits fine but you would'nt want anything bigger, Maxxis usually come up small compared to some tyres though I find. Gets pretty clagged up in the slop though, nothing a poke with a stick can't clear though..

Thanks all. So a great bike but the 2012 version with the new alloy seat-stay, without the brace, might be a better option?

The 2.35 carcasses come up smaller but the 2.25s definitely don't.

Yes I'd personally go for the alloy version if I was to buy another

Hi
I've had 2 carbon versions without a problem ... 2.25 tyre fits fine even in the sticky mud.

CRC have some bargains in their sale .

http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=66083
rp23 version is another £50 cheaper.

great bike ...

Cracking bike. I run nobby nic 2.25s and no issues with clearance even in mud.
Good on the ups, brilliant on the downs.

I wouldgo for the 2011 one from rutland btw.. Tapered headtube, improved swingarm with changeable dropouts..
As good as the 2010 one I have is, I'd shell out the extra coupla hundred for the more up to date model..

On my 09 carbon swing arm 575 I use 2.35 High Rollers. In really sticky/clay based mud clearance could be a problem, but then this is the wrong bike to use for grinding along in those conditions. One observation worth noting is that 2.35's dont rub the swingarm with a stiff wheel set, but did when I used an XC wheel set.
Dont be scared of buying a carbon swing arm, it has a 5 year warrenty. Yeti are in the process of replacing my swing arm because the bonding failed at the chainstay (BB end). Many thanks to Yeti and Goldtec in Necastle under lyme.
