Knackered after a bad chest infection and can’t cope with any hills. My local MTB route has a big climb to get to the fun stuff and I just can’t do it at the moment.

Therefore I’ve been looking at simple drop bar bikes. Something I can use for getting to work and for night time/weekend canal towpath riding. Nice and flat for building myself back up!

Came across the Bombtrack Arise 2 and wondered if anybody has one? If so, what’s the verdict? Seems like a good base to start from. Has rack and guard mounts and ability to take gears or run 27.5 wheels further down the line if I fancy it. Just like with hardtails, there’s something so right about a nice steel frame.

I've got one, it's a nice comfortable ride but it's a fairly hefty bit of kit.

Thanks Ivan. Are you running it SS or geared?

I've got mine set-up SS - it came as standard with 42-17 I think but I dropped that to 38-17 for the hills around the Lakes, didn't stand a chance otherwise! I've currently got 38mm Panaracer Gravel King slicks on it so it rolls along nice and smoothly.

There's not loads of standover so if you're short of leg that might be worth paying attention to - obviously not an issue riding it but if you're hopping on and off then it might be a (literal) pain.
