That's not pointless, it's genius.

Once you have a stiff neck you'll appreciate a gadget like that much more. 🙂

Last week I saw someone with a gopro on his bars which was attached to a smartphone also on his bars, so he could see where he was riding via the phone.

Sounds too much like pedo-scope. Either to find pedos or for pedos to find... y'know. 😯

If you combined glasses with scope, one could hold ones head upright, yet still view the road via the scope!
....oh, hang on...

Those are recumbant specs, for people too ill to sit up, spinal injuries and so forth.
As opposed to lazy bastards.

That'd be handy for folk doing the RAAM to avoid shermer's neck syndrome

They used to be listed in the Betterware catalogue as sunbathing glasses..

I wasn't aware that's what they were intended for...
DrP feels guilty....

Currently I have two pairs of those glasses sat on my desk for making something very similar to the first picture.
Have you any idea how much triathletes will cough up if you can promise them a more aero position? 🙂

I can remember in about 1993 having a discussion with one of the Raleigh reps about a pair of those prism specs, used for exactly that situation, namely to allow a cyclist to keep his head down but still see.
I cant remember if it actually happened or was a theoretical conversation.
FWIW, i thought at the time that it sounded ok in theory at least.

I recall ads in some of those catalogues for a "neck massager" usually modelled by an awkward looking lady. Quite why a neck massager needed to have variable speeds and different attachments always escaped me...
