Looking at booking some accomodation for a biking trip to the alps this summer (next week actually!). I've found several appartments in Peisey Nancroix, Plan Peisey, Vallandry and La Rosiere.

Does anyone have any advise on where would be good to stay for access to good biking? It seems like there is plenty of good trails round there!

Also, can anyone offer any advise on the type of biking in this area? Looking for some technical steep stuff really!

Thanks!

peisey nancroix is where trailaddiction are based.... plenty of biking there 🙂

maybe drop them a line to see if they can offer you a bit of guiding to get you started?

Pretty much all of that valley is good, there's some great trails in there. Might be worth dropping Sam at BV a line, it's their stomping ground.

Theres shed loads and its relatively busy with UK bikers so plenty of folk to ask even if you dont hire a guide, some dull marked, some good marked, lots & lots of good unmarked.

We're in Bourg at the moment. Paridiski pass is €80 a week, giving you lift access to all of Les Arcs and La Plagne. We're a 5 min ride from the funicular, giving access to some excellent trails. You'll either need a guide or a IGN map & a willingness to explore (we went for the latter and aren't bored after 11 days; another new trail to try later today...). Plenty of steep & technical riding.

There's a free bus to the La Rossiere lifts from Bourg (you have to pay for lifts, but there are 2 excellent trails that go from top to bottom 1200m descent). One marked on the trail map "sunset rock" and another from IGN exploring. Doing them again tomorrow morning as we enjoyed them so much.

Tignes is a 45 min drive away, where the lifts are free, but 50% of the trails were closed mon-fri when we went (the ones serviced by the Aeroski lift). Tarte a Lognan was like riding the best bits of uk trail centre descents back to back though & good fun if that's your thing.

Bike Village have been in Landry since bikes had square wheels, give them a shout, but I would imagine it is pretty likely they are booked out.

If I was doing a DIY trip in the area, I'd stay in Bourg.

Excellent- thanks for all the advise. Sounds like we'll do OK anywhere in the Bourg/Les Arcs area.

Was it you my wee brother passed in Fulham the other day? We reckon you're the only London-based T-shirt owner?
