Hi,
I bought one of these recently: http://www.dealextreme.com/p/t6-waterproof-xml-t6-3-mode-1200-lumen-white-led-bike-light-with-battery-pack-set-904482510
It's wonderfully bright but the light is *very* spot focused, and although there's a reasonable halo, it'll be pretty difficult to ride offroad I think.
Any thoughts on how I could make it more floody? Can you get alternative reflectors, or are there any other tricks?

Perfect, thanks
Try some of the cloudy Scothcbrite tape on the lens.
The lens does make the spot wider in a kind of letterbox shaped hotspot, but it is an improvement.
I stuck the glow in the dark ring underneath the lens and reflector and found that helped a bit. Couldn't get scotch tap to work that well
