Currently running 2x9 with an XT rear mech. 24-36 front rings...
2010 stumpjumper elite if it matters...
I've been building my bike slowly to meet my needs, and toughening it up nicely with a coil converted 20mm revelation up front, meatier tyres , 50mm stem, stans flow rims etc... She's riding very well now, and feels a little more suited to my type of riding.
I think the last missing pice to the puzzle is a little more chain tension to stop it flapping about on the tough DH sections...
I need a new rear cassette shortly, so I'm thinking I could...
A - use the opportunity to go 10sp and get a shadow+ rear mech.
B - get a cheap chainguide like a blackspire stinger. (2010 stumpies dont have ISCG tabs i dont think)
Theres nothing wrong with my nearly new medium cage rear mech, but theres probably £60ish difference between the two options since I'm having to replace the cassette anyway, I suppose I could sell my XT mech for £20 or so....
Which setup am I going to be happier with?
