I get my new car delivered this week, it's a 09 plated Mondeo (Titainum) 5 Door Hatch.
As (in my eyes) it's a rather nice new (expensive) shiney car I don't think I'm gonna be overly loving chucking dirty, muddy, dusty bikes in the back when off on trips.
So, I've thought about getting one of those towbar mounted bike carrier thingies. It'd have to carry a minimum of two bikes, still give me access to the boot and be nice and stable.
A bonus would be for it to include a tail board with lights.
Does anyone have experience of these type of carriers on here, if so what are the good ones.
BTW I don't want to fit a roof mounted carrier system as I just don;t fancy having the bikes up in the air like that.
Thanks in advance
Hi Steve,
I have a Pendle 4 bike tow bar mounted bike rack to go on the back of my van, which I bought last summer. Its coped fine with 4 XC bikes, was plenty stable, easy to fit and adjustable to fit different lengths of bikes.
They're a bit time consuming to put together, but seem bomb proof, and the customer service was Pendle was brilliant.
I bought mine here:
Happy shopping!
Cheers 😀
****in £200 odd quid though 😕
I have a Thule one, which is great. Got it for just over £100 secondhand (almost new). I don't think they're a whole lot more new. It's pretty sweet but can only take 3 bikes.
If you add up all the bits you need to put bikes on the roof safely, £200 isn't so steep possibly?
