Makes me laugh at the "29ers are gay" comments that people still post.

considering you can get a 165mm rear travel 29er with 432 chainstays it can't be too long before they arrive. I guess Fox and RS need to make some new lowers that will fit correctly to give tyre clearance.

I reckon we'll be seeing 29/27+ in WC DH eventually.

Fast open courses stick on the 29x2.5", tight and twisty or extra grip required? Maybe a 27x2.8"? Mix it up front and rear for some courses? They already swap tyres several times a weekend, the obvious next choice would be to change the whole wheel depending on course and conditions...

It makes sense for the bikes to accommodate it, they'd be able to sell privateer DHers two sets of wheels with every bike... so it's a Marketing dream too.

current 27 semi fat tyres wouldn't last I reckon. But there's no reason why you couldn't use 29er, must be faster on courses like Aus. where's there's pedalling surely?

Or USD forks make a bit more of a comeback?

DVO style with tied lower leg covers that accommodate a (height adjustable?) fender

They'd probably make tougher ones.

You'd think they would've tried big, massively heavy, tyres before........
