First pic is Chamonix looking across to the Mer de Glace glacier. Can see the line of the funicular railway in the trees across the valley.

Those pictures are real knockouts - and it looks like the weather held in the end! Thanks for all your tips this summer.

Great set of pics. Towards the end of your Flickr page - is that descending from the Index?

We were out the week before. Glad the weather held out for you as the weather looked to be closing in. Stunning place to go riding and will deffo be back next year. Did you make it over to Posettes/Trient/Col de Balme? Not as gnarly as elsewhere but some of the most flowing riding I've done anywhere. Truly beautiful.

Do you have any track logs?, not ventured over that side of the Chamonix valley before, the Swiss stuff is excellent though

jhw - did the emosson ride. really good that one. had to drop the others at the top then got the funicular/train thing back up from Chatelard.

gnasher - yes the new DH track from the top of the index. quite good once ridden a few times.

saxabar. Yep we did the possettes and trient. I really liked those as well as slightly easier riding and really flowy.

Me or Nick? I haven't but it really is a case of follow your nose down into Trient which is an easy run into Chatelard which takes you over the border and into the valley.

Glad that it worked out - that's a pretty clever way of avoiding the road climb.

I take it this and the next few are the first of the two trails sort of near Samoens which you had mentioned to me (not the one near Commune) that go from the Refuge - it looks immense...

I suspect I have an idea of where these were taken - does the name of the place rhyme with snail trail...

My immediate reaction on seeing all this stuff was to go on CRC and acquire a full face

Actually its quite expensive and we realized that there is a bus up from Finhault which is way cheaper!

Yes thats the refuge trail - really tight switchbacks on that one...some with exposure 😯

Snail trail yes!

Full face recommended as plenty of rocky nasty sections. Sick track from Flegere was mental...

ooOOoo - funny, I was just thinking the same thing. Great pics btw. Never been to the Alps (shocking state of affairs), maybe it's time to do something about that.
