So going to treat myself to a new pair of wheels as a Christmas present.
I have narrowed it down to; Hope hoops 2 on mavic EN521

http://www.bikeradar.com/gear/category/components/wheel-sets/product/review-hope-technology-hope-hoops-pro-2-evo-on-mavic-en521-wheelset-11-45051/

or Hope hoops 2 on Stans ZRT Flow rims

http://www.bikeradar.com/gear/category/components/wheel-sets/product/review-hope-technology-hope-hoops-pro-2-evo-on-mavic-en521-wheelset-11-45051/

Just what I can find the cheapest really.

The question is should I order them off an ebay shop like ''fastpartsforbikes'', another cheaper internet shop, they cost about £265

or

Pay the extra and get them from Evans, chain reaction etc, will the extra £50 get better build quality.

Also is a hope pro 2 evo the same as a hope hoop 2 pro evo?
I went on there web page and they have no info on the hoops range.

I had a pair off that fella on ebay, they where right enough, however he is slow and not great to deal with.

I would either go with the cheap internet place or my LBS, build quality will be the same.

The term Evo only applies to the new version of the Pro 2 hub, so yes.

Hope Hoops is Hope's name for their factory wheelsets anyone else can (hand) build a wheel using a Hope hub.

You can get the Flows from Simon at Progressive Bikes for £269.99. I've bought stuff from Simon in the past and would recommend him/his company.

I have no direct experience of fastpartsforbikes but review these threads before making a decision here and here

Cheers guys the only thing putting me off the stans is the tubless system.
Can you take the tubless valve out and use an inner tube and standard tyre?

The wheels won't come fitted with valve and yellow tape. In fact, when I bought my Hoops, they came with standard Velox tape included but not fitted. You can run inner tubes and tyres no problem; they're just like any other rims, there's really nothing special about...I ran my 355s with inner tubes for ages before finally switching to tubeless

Perfect, do you have stan's rims, I like the look of them?

Flows are very nice. Then, so are 521s. Not a lot of strength difference despite the weight difference, but Flows do dent a bit more easily.

I just took my 721s off the DH bike and fitted my old Flows, so, let's see if I die 😉 It's not like I ride it very fast...

Yep, had both Hope Hoops with Stans 355 (Hoops came with 355 rims before they changed to Stans Crest rims) and with Flow rims

are the shimano XT ones worth a look - or is is hope hoops/stans all the way? Little bit cheaper - but not much.

Some people (myself included) prefer cartridge bearings (used in Hope hubs) over Shimano cup and cone. I had problems with my XT wheels when the Freehub seized and wouldn't engage. Unfortunately the Freehub is a sealed unit and I couldn't find a replacement, when I did it was almost as much as a full hub. I fixed it eventually by soaking it in degreaser and then light oil. If it was a Hope I could have stripped it down and cleaned it.

Other thoughts:
The Shimanos come with quick release skewers, extra cost on the Hopes
The Hopes are compatible with all current front wheel standards the ones you linked to are q/r and may not be convertible.

I noticed that the newer Shimano wheels are using the center lock rotor mount so you would need an adaptor or new discs, I think?
