Hi,

I'm looking at setting up my wifes old Dr Dew for my daughter. Would a NW chain ring work OK with a 9 speed non clutch mech.

Yes - 10 is narrower so 9 fits fine- I use one on a 1 x9 set up

any 10 speed compatible NW ring will work with a 9 speed chain. A non-cluthch mech is obviously not going to hold the chain as well as a clutched one but will work. Maybe add a simple chain guide to the system?

My son has a 1x9 non-clutch setup on his MTB. 32t On-One ringmaster and a reasonably fresh XT medium cage derailleur. Has worked flawlessly for more than a year. Not a single chain drop. No guarantee of course but it's definitely worth a try.
