Broke a spoke on my commuter Shimano mt55 wheel, anywhere sell them individually?

Not that easy - you'll need the specific one; front or rear, left or right. Be available through any Shimano dealer though.

No idea, but I wouldn't recommend guessing the length. Most Shimano spokes are proprietary. They're £4 from SJS (or any other dealer - go to your lbs and get them to order one).

My LBS apparently couldn't get spokes for my Shimano wheels.

I just removed the elbow from a standard spoke and shoved that in there. It's been fine for 4000+ miles. I suppose it depends whether you consider your commuter to be worthy of fixing properly.
