So ive got a newish bike and need some mudguards after covering the little one in spray this morning. Can anyone recommend some really nice looking mudguards for 42c tires? that will fit
Standard answer, SKS chromoplastics, great, but a faff to fit and adjust. The m-part primoplastic are actually better because you don't need 3 hands and a small spanner to adjust them. I've got primoplastics for 32mm tyres on my plug so the bigger version should fit comfortably. the only problem is the rear seat stay boss is a faff because it screws in from the bottom, if you're handy it might be easier to fabricate a mount that bolts from the top, or a countersunk bolt through the mudguard itself.
SKS Chromoplastic or Bluemels. Never had any issues fitting or adjusting. Not sure where "faff" claim is coming from...

Lifeline mudguards looking interesting, especially it's breakaway system. Will know more once fitted into my new build, that I'm hoping to finish today.
Cheers!

PDW are spendy but worth it IMO, use the City version (55mm) on my Plug singlespeed. Rock solid and silent in use, unlike the SKS on my other bike which can rub and rattle a bit when the going gets bumpy

See those 8 fiddly little nuts that you adjust to get them to fit nicely? And fall out repeatedly whilst you try to thread the stays through them into the brittle plastic caps on top? Imagine a mudguard that's almost the same in every way, except without those things.
I've got 2 sets of chromopastics and a set of blumells, the m-part is by a mile the easier set to fit.
Don't know what M-Parts are like but as a user of 2 sets of Bluemels and 1 of Chromoplastic never found them particularly fiddly...

PS
Can see that Primoplastics looking exactly like LifeLine. Still subscribing to my initial opinion that SKSs are no more fiddly...
I'd agree with the slightly fiddly opinion for SKS guards, worth it, but fiddly.
The photo above appears to have not cut the stays down to size, which enables fitting the plastic end caps, and makes them look a bit cleaner of course. That's one of the more fiddly tasks, in my experience requiring a dremel or similar.
