That's what me and my mate are doing 🙂
Got a rough plan in our heads....
Week 1 (last week in June): Morzine
Week 2: Les Duex Alps/ Alpe D'Huez for Mega Avalanche
Week 3: Les Arcs
Questions:
Can I book lift passes in advance to save money? I see you can do it for the winter season in Morzine, but not summer?!
Any recomendations for places to stay etc? Currently looking for small apartments through Owners Direct, budget is £100 per week per person (2 of us). Got one in a village 10mins from Morzine for £200. We were going to camp but can't be bothered with the hassle of all the extra stuff we'd need to pack in the car.
Where would you go if you had three weeks in the Alps? We're looking for a mix of fast DH trails but really interested in the real single track stuff.. as long as it's pointing down (heavy Supreme and Giant Reign)!
Thoughts....
Pila in italy (just the other side of the mont blanc tunnel) is worth it if you can get it into your route. The run from the top of the hill all the way to aosta is amazing and about 1600m vertical.
If your in les arcs then a trip up the valley to tignes for a day is worth it if you have the time area too. It'll only be an hours drive.
If you are off to les arcs seriously consider some guiding while you're there as the best trails aren't so easy to find. I've used www.trailaddiciton.com who might be able to help you with guiding even if you're not staying with them.
Apart from this buy rowan sorrells mountain bike europe book and watch 3 weeks become 3 months 🙂
