Interesting idea.
An engineer might be able to shed more light on the issue, but for me, that 2wd system seems a bit suspect. Driving the front wheel as a slave of the read... Is it just me, or does that seem like a compromised solution...?

Christini have been making that system for years - I think it might have the front wheel slightly undergeared compared to the back, so the front engages when the back starts to lose traction.
