So I’m after some 29er wheels for a bike coming my way.
Options so far at around £400 are what’s in stock- superstar own brand Alpine, Hope 30, and Nukeproof horizon.
They are going on a lightweight 160 travel FS so it would be nice if they didn’t weigh a ton.
Hunt OOS
Anything I’ve missed?
Boost and burly, not DH burly.

There are options on fitwheels.eu. I ordered my dtswiss rims with 240/350 hubs last year from them and they were built to order and better price than I could find anywhere else.

My lbs have hunt fortus in stock, not sure if they fit lightweight though! Not something I care about.
I’m getting a dt swiss wheel built and I think dt stock is due in this week so that may open up a few options? I would message some wheel builders and see if/what they can do for that budget

I don't know if there's any stock around, but I'm very impressed with the Stan's Flow Mk3 Wheelset I bought just over a year ago.

Taken plenty of abuse so far with no issues.

I just bought some Mavic crossmax from cyclestore. No stock of wheel sets but you could buy front and back individually for the same price....

Round, roll well. Went up tubeless easy. Wider (25 internal) than my old crossmax but not crazy wide

The Hope Fortus 30 is the one with a lot of extra material in it and designed to take maximum abuse. Probably a fair chunk heavier than similar sized alternatives.

I'd swerve them for anything other than a DH bike.

If you were considering a mullet setup, I've got a nearly new set of Hunt enduro wide I don't use anymore (27.5 rear, 29er front)?

I’ve got a spare 29er hint rear that wants a new free hub, with johnw mullet set you could get a full pair!

Fortus 30 are super heavy DH rims. Fortus 35 are less heavy, but you may not want or nee the extra width, and they're not light either.

Given my experience with their new BBs, I'd avoid anything Nukeproof with their fancy bearings in it.

Thanks for the heads up about the fortus 30!

It turns put the fortus 35 in 29er is a full 250g lighter for the wheels at, that's mad.

I had a set of 30's on order I have asked for 35's hopefully its not too late to change it.
