A mate of mine is looking for a new bike and is looking for a 29er full susser.
He is coming off a 09 enduro and has a budget of 1500.
What would you go for either new or used.

Make sure he tries it out - The correct size is very important here. So if he doesn't really know what he wants, I'd go new and support the local shop.
He will. He's not as stupid as me lol but realizes you can get more for your money online.
Evans have a shop soiled entry level trailfox for £1700, he could get a further £150 off if he can find a skip bike for the tradein scheme... That looks like a lot of bike for the money, and he can try for size in store
Northwind where can you see the shop soiled bikes ? Will they move it between stores.
