I dragged my Whyte you today for a day around Llandegla after its 4 week off duty, when i checked everything last night everything was good but after 30 minutes of so today the return on the reverb was beyond slow and at one point it stayed down . After the trip home in the car it seemed a little better so my guess was the temperature ,so decided to so fro a quick spin once I got home , after 8 miles or so i dropped the post for a run down and it stayed there for the remaining 8 miles home ..not the best ride ive ever had knees in chest.

Is this a fault or will a bleed be in order? seems strange that it suffers with this kind of problem where my cable operated Lev has been out in minus 5 + conditions and never caused a problem

Mine did that, I queried it in several places and basically got a unanimous 'they all do that, sir' style response 🙁

Yeah, just a simple bleed should be needed-somehow you have compressible air in the non compressible hydraulic fluid that exacerbates things as it get colder.

As the post is what maybe 4 months old and seen less than 40 hours use i am worried thats its a fault I will try a bleed and check pressure in the morning ..fingers cross

I had the same issue with mines, in the end I converted it to cable using the bikeyoke dehy. I’ve not had a single issue since

Worth noting that in Fat circles the phenomenon is well known. If the post behaves normally at normal temperatures you may be chasing a non existent fault. How cold was it out at Degla today?

Happened to mine three (?) weeks ago in the last cold spell and I remember the same thing happening last winter. That was the last straw for me, not sure what was the first. Sat down that night and ordered a brand x 150.

Was about 0 at Lee Quarry earlier and all our Reverbs were a lot slower. Definitely because of the temperatures.

The hairs on my new tyres even had icicles handing off them!

Have you tried slackening the seat clamp. Had a mate with a KS lev that didn’t appreciate having a tight seat post clamp - slowed it right down. I’m wondering if the contraction of the seat clamp bolt might have an impact on the operation?

It must have been well below freezing yesterday with the wind chill and the speed return and clamp were both tried and to no avail.I will try a bleed and air today failing that Lbs can sort it as it's less than 6months old

Bikes don’t feel wind chill...

But get a DEhy conversion kit, they’re brilliant.

Had this a few years ago on my old ht, turned out it was just low on air pressure.
